A life in Da Lata

There was a time where few things could excite us more than a new comp under the title "Rebirth Of Cool". Every volume was (and still is) a must in our eager fingers. And also, with the help of those highly eclectic records - full of London's contemporary sounds - we were able to introduce a number of partners in music crimes. It was so good to see how people, far from what those names and credits meant, would discover anything from Ben Harper to Alex Reece or... Da Lata.

Patrick Forge had been an agitator for some time - and more things: I invite you to explore him in detail - either at Dingwalls, Kiss FM or other fronts. Until he felt the call to get personally involved in music creation and/or production . And that's when Da Lata came alive: in sacrifice of our beloved Rebirth Series. Obviously, things don't happen in such lineal curve, and Patrick had already been experimenting and colliding worlds. But once Da Lata came alive in 1997, then hitting the world with "Ponteio" and "Pra Manhá", the project's signature became a guarantee of exciting fusion and hot beats. And they still are.

One of today's favourites in the eclectic dance scene is the afro-house theme "This Is Not Your Job" A compulsively happy high-life-fusion-into-disco excursion (activated by Da Lata´s own remix and Faze Action) with hot bass pulses and just the kind of warmth we need at peak time on the dancefloor. Or  right into your ears, as I sometimes play this with my mp3 mate. It's a postive return and the promise of more musical smiles from the hands and hearts of Patrick and Chris Franck.
