First of all: thank you for the many many visits from all around the world to check Lindstrom & Prins Thomas' full interview. It was a long reading, I know, but full of tasty bits. But music goes on, mates! Specially party music I guess, since it's that time of the year. Time to remember the big tracks, the high moments, time for lists... Well, I'm not going to make any lists this year. Why? Either accidentally or not I've come across a big number of them for the last 4 weeks or so. And even though I understand the reason for them I've also started to feel dizzy about the excessive snobism behind these things. Call it, precisely, my ultimate snob reaction, but I won't be listing any best of 2008. Just go and check my latest entries and you have the list.
Another reason for this no-lists feeling is the countless releases and new interesting stuff arriving to my ears. For example, the highly desired return of Paul Murphy's label Afro Art. And why were they so silent? Well, don't you know what's going on in the music industry? Oh, right, you have been too busy downloading... The good news, anyway, is the arrival of an excellent contagious party peak 12": "Governor's daughter", the new track by the Norwegian duo Of Norway (made of Lil Wolf and Chris Lynn). They are another example of the Scandinavian scene of cosmic disco, abstract house and postminimal techno. In other words: they are fresh and exciting new blood for the trend eaters! But, they are beyond just that. And that's probably why good old Paul (Murphy) pick them for the necessary return of Afro Art with a killer track. And he got it right in all respects, but specially with the irresistible side-b remix signed by Danny J Lewis (the name behind Spiritual South, and another Afro Art's top seller "Green Gold").
This black gold dancefloor burner has been released less than 10 days ago and I believe we have one of 2009's smashing tracks for eclectics and soul-housists. You can check it at Afro Art's Myspace page or, my brand new Myspace page for this blog: Másàjazz.
