JIMI TENOR & KABU KABU // 4th Dimension

As the offer and access to new music grows in a strange combination of democracy and chaos, quaility and delight becomes essential. Yes, you can have almost everything these days, but what is the benefit of all that when detail and  inspiration belongs (still) to only a few artists? It's the beginning of a new year and I must confess one of my resolutions: I will not listen to the sound of the sirens (in my head). Only to my heart. And how does one translate this commitment to music? Easy: selection, selection, selection. And I can't think of a better example to express it that the arrival of a new set of music by the extraordinaire Jimi Tenor.

Although his new project with Kabu Kabu (4th dimension) got to my desk a few weeks ago, the official launch of the album by Sahko Recordings is announced for January 19th (while you can already order the music in CD and LP through the label's site: www.sahkorecordings.com). An order you should put on the top your priorities: new and fresh music by one of today's most sharp composers. A true genius in his own right thanks to an incisive mix of pop attitude, avant-garde mind and global heart.

Tenor's second excursion into his own afrodelia (after 2007's Joystone) is a warm explosion of spiritual jazz, cosmic soul, abstract swing and freako-croonerism! But the best lies on top: humor. So dip yourself into this mothership of space soul, twisted funk and retro science fiction for a real trip to your mind. 14 tracks that bring new details on and on while the most important quality detector lights its sign: a big big smile. A must for 2009!
