Danny Krivit was in Madrid last night, for the first time ever. The occasion was the opening of a new weekly session in the city, Loose (Urban Soul Community), planned and programmed by one of the most persistent music lovers in Madrid: Javi Bayo (the mind behind Danzz, the jazzdance club which brought regularly the Jazzcotech Dancers to perform and teach a small jazz loving community of "madrileños"). Unfortunately Krivit was missing. It's the only logical explanation to contextualize one of the most boring, flat and commercial sets I have ever witnessed by someone who, in many ways, has forged disco music and house as we know it today. Furthermore, considering how important it was to create a vibe and memorable experience for a new session focusing soul, funk and quality "dance" music, the work proivided by Mr Krivit was offensive. Why even bothering playing long flamenco guitar house tracks when in Spain? Why a house remix of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak? Why not trying a little harder?
The n ew club will continue on and we hope it will build on an adult crowd who lacks good venues where roots music, house, electronic, past and present meet in good vibes, in a perfect small location where one can chat, dance and groove away from the predominant techie sounds of this capital.
More on Loose.
