A walk in the sunshine: Dowtong Cast

We know this: it's all about the music. No comment, no explanation needed: just music. That's the bottom line, and the success line for many of the current and floating podcasts one can find in the Net. One click, one go. Play it. Keep it. Now dream... This is the beauty of the more fascinating side of musical things in the global web. The opportunity for many open and generous souls to generate music, creation and thought from any corner in the world to the rest of the planet.

Today I welcome the arrival of a must-have window for your browser: Dowtong Cast. It's a very simple and accesible site for podcasts, sessions and future radio shows, as hosted by its creator, Dj Aset. I must, obviously respect his wish for not revealing his real "me", but I can at least explain that I know this man personally and I've seen him organise and prepare this space with such detail and accuracy, that I can no have other than great expectations for his venture. It's also a great pride for Spanish music lovers and people from Madrid to have him as one of our captains!

The opening comes from himself: Big Attitudes is the name of a very selective, loose and smart session, very much in place for these sunny and positive days. But there's already another guest: RamOn3 who has provided an interesting counterpoint to the host.

So give yourself a treat a click in: you will feel the aroma of fresh lime and cold beer in the air. Or you can at least imagine it!

Buena suerte chicos!!

Unnecessary Krivit

Danny Krivit was in Madrid last night, for the first time ever. The occasion was the opening of a new weekly session in the city, Loose (Urban Soul Community), planned and programmed by one of the most persistent music lovers in Madrid: Javi Bayo (the mind behind Danzz, the jazzdance club which brought regularly the Jazzcotech Dancers to perform and teach a small jazz loving community of "madrileños"). Unfortunately Krivit was missing.

It's the only logical explanation to contextualize one of the most boring, flat and commercial sets I have ever witnessed by someone who, in many ways, has forged disco music and house as we know it today. Furthermore, considering how important it was to create a vibe and memorable experience for a new session focusing soul, funk and quality "dance" music, the work proivided by Mr Krivit was offensive. Why even bothering playing long flamenco guitar house tracks when in Spain? Why a house remix of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak? Why not trying a little harder?

The n ew club will continue on and we hope it will build on an adult crowd who lacks good venues where roots music, house, electronic, past and present meet in good vibes, in a perfect small location where one can chat, dance and groove away from the predominant techie sounds of this capital.

More on Loose.
